How do the cabins get delivered?
Your cabin may be delivered by truck or trailer, depending on the type of cabin you’d like, and the location of your property. We’ll check your site location and elevation to see whether a truck or trailer is suitable. Larger cabins typically require truck delivery, which may involve additional delivery costs – we’ll outline this clearly before you proceed.
Can I view the cabins in person?
Yes — we have show cabins available to view at RentZone, 250B Sutton Road, Drury, Auckland.
Open Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm.

How are Rentzone portable buildings built?
Our cabins are built by registered builders and designed to meet New Zealand building standards.
They are fully insulated (including underfloor, walls and ceiling) and finished with durable materials such as carpet tiles or vinyl flooring, making them comfortable year-round.
Do I pay a delivery fee and do you level the unit when on site?
Yes, a delivery and return fee is payable in advance. Your delivery fee varies by location; select your preferred cabin and click “send me more info” to get estimate delivery fees to your location.
We will make sure the unit is levelled & secure and connected to power on site.
What size rentals do you have?
3.6m x 2.6m, 4.8m x 2.4m, 6m x 3m two rooms, 6m x 3m Self Contained, limited fleet of larger buildings (varying room configuration and utilities).
How do I power the rental cabins?
We provide a 15m caravan power lead which can be connected to your house or garage power supply, all units are electrically certified and are RCD protected with smoke alarms.
How is the plumbing connected for ensuite / kitchenette cabins?
When the cabin is delivered, we will connect the water to your closest outside tap, and the waste is connected directly to the waste / septic system on your site. We can discuss over the phone or during a visit to your property.
Do you have a minimum hire period?
Minimum hire period is 6 months across all cabin types.
How do I order a rental cabin?
Start by submitting an enquiry through our website.
We’ll check availability, confirm your site suitability, and guide you through the next steps.
Do I need to pay rent in advance?
Your initial invoice includes security deposit, delivery and collection fees, plumbing costs (if applicable), and one week’s rent in advance.
Ongoing payments can be made weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
Can I apply for a WINZ quote?
Yes, we are an approved WINZ supplier. Follow the steps to choose your rental cabin and have up-front costs emailed, then click ‘check availability’ to submit your details. If we can deliver to your site, we will send out an initial invoice that you can take to your WINZ Case Manager for approval.
Can my rental cabin be relocated during the rental period?
Yes should you move locations contact us and we can give you a quote on the relocation fee.
Can you visit our site to check access?
Yes contact us direct and we can initially check on the satellite and google street view, in some cases we will need to visit to measure your entrance and advise best location for the cabin.
Rental to Buy FAQs
What is Rent to Buy?
Rent to Buy allows you to move into a cabin now and work towards ownership over time.
Your regular payments contribute towards owning the cabin at the end of your agreement.
What is RZ Finance Limited?
RZ Finance Limited is RentZone’s own finance company and the credit provider for all Rent to Buy agreements. It is a registered financial service provider and operates under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (CCCFA).

What's the difference between renting and Rent to Buy?
With a standard rental, you are paying for the temporary use of the cabin only.
With Rent to Buy, you are working towards ownership of the cabin over an agreed term.
What cabins are available for Rent to Buy?
The following cabins are available through our Rent to Buy programme – all are larger models, and most include an ensuite and kitchenette for self-contained living:

Do I need a deposit?
In most instances no, however a deposit may be required depending on your application and lending criteria. You may choose to pay a deposit to reduce your weekly rates

What are the payment terms?
We offer flexible terms, typically ranging from 3 to 6 years.
Longer terms generally result in lower weekly payments, while shorter terms reduce the overall finance cost.

What interest rate applies?
Interest rates start from 12.00% per annum and range up to 16.9% per annum, depending on your individual credit assessment.
Your rate is fixed for the full term of your agreement and confirmed by RZ Finance Limited prior to signing.
Are there any additional fees?
Yes — a loan establishment fee of $480 and a monthly service fee of $15 apply to all agreements.

What checks are required?
As part of the Rent to Buy process, we carry out identity verification (including proof of identity and address as required under AML/CFT legislation), a credit assessment, and an affordability check to ensure the agreement is suitable for you.

Once we’ve confirmed your site suitability, we’ll guide you through the application process with RZ Finance Limited.
Do RentZone cabins require council consent?
Our cabins are designed as portable, temporary structures and are not classified as permanent dwellings.
Requirements can vary depending on your location and intended use, so we recommend checking with your local council to confirm any specific requirements that may apply to your situation. Our team is happy to help guide you in the right direction.
Where do you deliver for Rent to Buy?
Our Rent to Buy programme covers a wide area of the North Island — refer to the map above for a visual guide to our delivery coverage zone (shown in red).
Our current delivery area extends:
- North to Whangarei / Dargaville
- East to Whakatāne
- South to Tūrangi
- West to Mokau
The red section of the map indicates our coverage area for Rent to Buy delivery. All deliveries are subject to site access and suitability assessment.
Delivery pricing varies by region and will be quoted based on your specific location and cabin selection. To get a delivery price, simply submit a cabin enquiry and our team will confirm your costs.
